125th Anniversary (1882 -
2007)
First Lutheran Church
A special 125th anniversary
service & banquet was held on June 3, 2007. Special guests included
Bishop Emeritus Paul Werger of the former Iowa Synold LCA, Bishop Michael
Last of the Western Iowa Synod, Pastor Dan Mangler, who served First
Lutheran from 1980 to 2000, and Pastor Eric Carlson, son of Pastor John
Carlson who served First Lutheran from 1970 to 1979. Many families
and former members came to celebrate this day.
The Anthem was commissioned in
celebration of our 125th anniversary. It featured the vocal choir,
bell choir, flute and organ. It's an arrangement of the well-known
hymn "Gather Us In" by Marty Haugen and was arranged by Mark Sedio.

125th Anniversary Cookbook Tasting Party
June 4, 2006
Our kickoff event was held June 4, 2006 with the dedication of the Anniversary
Banner and the First Lutheran Cookbook taste-testing party. Cookbook sales
also started that day. What a wonderful gift for yourself or others at $10.00
for this great book!
